Information for this tour was contributed by Daniel Gibbs. Opened Dec. 23, 1926, the Tivoli closed 1976 and reopened 1978 as performing arts center. One of the most intact and original theatres in Maryland, this beautiful small-town palace can seat 1200. It still has its original Mighty Wurlitzer and its projection equipment has recently been upgraded/restored/rebuilt so that it can once again claim itself "Frederick's House of the Perfect Talkies". A small, modern-Classical facade encloses a freestanding box office in an open carriage lobby. Then, it's down the Hall of Mirrors to the small, restrained inner lobby, which features a beautiful mosaic floor. The narrow, tall auditorium has fairly flat sidewalls with a motif of Classical arches, leading to the arched organ grilles flanking the very plain proscenium.
