Information for this tour was contributed by Dave Sadler.

Santikos was acquiring theatres in the area that were being closed by other circuits. The Woodlawn Theatre was one of first suburban theatres that was built just after WWII just north of the downtown area. When Santikos took it over in March of 1975, it had been closed for over a year. It took quite a bit of cleaning and painting and repairing to put it back in shape. About six months later, the Woodlawn was converted to a two screen by converting the balcony to a second theatre.

The balcony theatre opened officially on October 15, 1975.

For a time in the late 1970's the theatre was operated by Movie One Theatres at the same time that it showed X-Rated films as part of the Pussycat chain of adult theatres.
