Information for this tour was contributed by Ken Shade. The Edmond Plaza Theatre opened on Thanksgiving Day, 1967, as a single screen theater. It was owned by Spectro Theaters. For many years, before it was turned into a twin, it was owned by an Afghani family named Safi. After the Safi family, it was open sporadically.
By February 1983, it was owned by Main Street Theaters, the same company that owned the Will Rogers Theater, in Oklahoma City, at that time. Ken Shade purchased it from Main Street, owned by Lenny Cantor, in November of 1983.
In February 1991, after the opening of more than thirty screens nearby, Shade was unable to keep it going. Precor Realty Management, the landlord, seized it out of his bankruptcy. Shade then worked there as manager until August of 1991. Precor decided to operate it, and the Northpark Cinema Four in Oklahoma City, by themselves. This didn't work out too well, and the theater closed in 1993.
