The West Rome Drive-In was sold to an auto dealership in 2011 and expected to be closed. However after a community outcry the drive-in was allowed to stay on a reduced portion of the property. In 2012 the two screens were taken down and only one was erected again, in a different spot on the property. The old concession stand and projection booth were demolished and new ones were built. Car capacity was reduced from 400 to 225. The theatre was permanently closed after the 2013 season.
