The Elite, originally occupying the first floor of the YMCA building previously on the site, was built in 1935. The Georgia continued into the 1970s as a concert venue before closing in 1981. It reopened the next year as the Georgia Carafe and Draft Theater, but was once again holding concerts as the Georgia by 1989. The Georgia was gutted by a fire in the morning hours of June 19, 2009. The nightclub reopened in 2011. Photos Photos remain the property of the Member and may not be reproduced without the written consent of the Member. |
