Information for this tour was contributed by Mark Richey. AMC arrived in Plano on June 6, 1986, when they opened their Central Center 7 on the northwest corner of Central Expressway and Park Blvd., about half a mile north of the Loews Chisholm. The opening day lineup was "Raw Deal", "Space Camp", "My Little Pony", "Invaders From Mars", "The Trip to Bountiful", "The Color Purple", and "The Money Pit".
By that November, someone apparently realized that having two very similar words make up the name of the theater was confusing, so it became the Central Park 7.
This was always my favorite of Plano’s multiplexes. It was usually clean, presentation was good, and, as a teenager, I liked the "Moviewatcher" promotion. This was usually our first choice if the movie we wanted to see was playing there.
It closed on October 19, 1999 (about three and a half months after the opening of the Cinemark Legacy). The last shows were "Superstar", "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland", "Stigmata", "Blue Streak", "The 13th Warrior", "The Thomas Crown Affair", and "Runaway Bride".
