Lake Jackson was built as a company town for Dow Chemical in the early 1940s. The town and its movie theater were designed by Alden Dow, the son of the company's founder.
Starplex Cinemas closed this theatre on June 12, 1997. Keys to the theatre were turned over to the city at the ribbon cutting of Starplex's Cinema 10. It became an Opry theater before closing again.
