Opened on November 15, 1967, the theater was originally a twin that seated 1050 in each house. It was the first 2-screen theater built from the ground up in Cleveland, and the second in the state of Ohio.
Cinema I was split in 1973 into two auditoriums seating 472 and 440. Cinema II was split in the early 1980s into three auditoriums.
General Cinema closed the location around 2002 and it was renovated into a Cinema Grill, which was not successful and closed. The theater is now operated by Cleveland Cinemas.
