Suburban Detroit Theaters opened the Southland 1-2 in the Southland Mall in 1976 and added two more screens in 1984. In 1986, it was purchased by AMC Theatres. AMC sold the theater in 1999 to Ultra Saver Theaters, who closed it just a year later.
