Information for this tour was contributed by Don Anderson. The theatre was opened in November 1929. It was split into a two screener in the early 1970s. Then in the early 1980s, it was converted into a triplex cinema. Two auditoriums on the main floor, and a huge auditorium on the balcony. Still has the original stage located behind the lower auditoriums, that at one time had vaudeville acts into the early 1930s. Basement has numerous dressing rooms, and restrooms which are now used for storage purposes. An orchestra pit is located in front of the old stage area, and at one time had an impressive organ in it.
The West Bend was bought and closed by a competitor on November 22, 2006. The last films were "Casino Royale" and "A Good Year".
Restoration was completed in 2020 and now the theatre is host to live performances and movies. Photos Photos remain the property of the Member and may not be reproduced without the written consent of the Member. |
