An article in the Duluth News Tribune stated "Originally operated by American Multi-Cinema, the Mariner 4 was sold to Carmike Cinemas in 1992 and then to Cinema Entertainment Corp. in 2000. In 2001, the theater underwent a $1.2 million addition and renovation that included the addition of three more screens; it reopened as the Superior 7 Theaters."
