Information for this tour was contributed by Desmond Fries. A twin theatre located at the Artsquest Center in Bethlehem, PA. With surround sound, digital & film projection, stadium seating and reserved seating, the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema shows independent films.
The name comes from a local beer distributor, whose company, of course, has contributed to the non-profit. Adult drinks and food from a limited-menu bistro can be taken into the auditoriums.
The center also houses an art gallery, comedy club, the Musikfest Cafe for live shows and free entertainment in a new steel and glass, four-story building on property which formerly housed the giant Bethlehem Steel Co., which went out of business nearly a decade ago. The old blast furnaces loom over the new Artsquest Center and are illuminated at night. The 163 acre site, in the heart of the city, is being redeveloped as an arts, entertainment, shopping and residential area. Openings so far include a two rink ice skating center, large sports bar, health club, community college, and the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in new or rehabbed buildings. Investment so far has topped $1 billion. An additional 1000 acres hosts various businesses on the outskirts of the city.
