Previously operated by: General Theatrical Company, Syufy Enterprises, Century Theatres, Cinemark Theatres

The Portal Theatre opened on Christmas Day in 1925. Syufy Enterprises (Century Theatres) acquired the theater on 3/27/1974 from the Hyman Levin family. It was modernized in October 1974 and reopened as the Empire Theatre. Century Theatres renovated the theater again in 2003 and converted programming to art house product.

Cinemark declared this theatre permanently closed in early 2021. Regal had built a new 12-plex at the nearby Stonestown Galleria which would increase competition for an already non-existent customer base following the Covid-19 pandemic.
