The 40 West opened on January 7, 1967. In its current configuration, the 30x68-foot East screen parks 208 cars and the 29x56-foot West screen parks 138.

In 1999, the theater re-opened with the classic "Grease" shown to a packed lot.

After being sold along with the neighboring Showest Cinema, the drive-in closed in 2005.

Most of the theater was demolished in 2011, but the snack bar remains.
