Originally opened as a 7-plex, on 5/23/1986 three screens were added, accessible from a separate entrance outside the mall.

Resort Theatres of America acquired this from Metropolitan in March 1999. According to an article in the Palm Springs Desert Sun, Metropolitan retained stakes in RTA via stock considerations.

Reopened as Cinemas Palme d'Or on 10/10/2003, which closed 6/30/2016. Tristone Cinemas assumed operations the following day.

It was announced on the Palm Desert 10 Cinemas Facebook page that the theater would close after business on 2/5/2023.
