Built as the California in 1909, the theater was renamed the Liberty the following year. In 1949, it became the World and was closed in 1953 and demolished.

This building was located across the street from the Verdi, which was later called the World before being torn down and replaced with an office building with a small theater called the World. Confusing, no?
