The Gentry reopened on December 12, 2008, after not showing films for about 12 years. Part of the building had been used for other purposes, such as a tailor shop. After a lengthy renovation, auditorium 1 now has 132 new seats. A cozy 32-seat auditorium 2 was carved from the rear of the main auditorium, with the main auditorium retaining its 23-foot-wide screen. The Gentry then closed in 2010.
On December 13, 2013, the Gentry reopened under the management of Allen Theatre Management. The theater closed again in 2014.
The Gentry reopened on March 16, 2018, under new owners Nathan and Cindy McLaughlin, who remodeled and upgraded to digital projection.
