Information for this tour was contributed by John Williamson. University City Cinema was located at 480 Ackerman Road at the front southeast corner of University City Shopping Center. It was originally a large single screen theatre built in the 1960s by General Cinema. It had the General Cinema "Shadow Box Screen" with a funnel-like gypboard structure surrounding the screen. It was twinned in later years (as were all of the GC theaters in the Columbus area), and was demolished. An Applebee's restaurant sits on its site today.
