Information for this tour was contributed by John Miller. Originally the theatre was a furniture store (1898), then became a Nickelodeon and in 1908 became the Palace Theatre. The theatre was closed for a period of time in 1933 and was reopened by the Henry Weinberg family where it received its new name. My father managed the theatre for the Weinberg family from 1933-1948. He purchased the business in 1948 and kept the name and operated until 1979.
The facility is being converted into the Barbara Ingram Center for the Arts which should be operation sometime in 2006. Photos Photos remain the property of the Member and may not be reproduced without the written consent of the Member. |
