The Calvin opened on January 17, 1927, on or near the site of the Strand Theater, and was controlled for a time by the Wisper and Wetsman circuit before being remodeled in 1965. It featured discount films during the 1970s, and burned down in two fires in 1980. The City of Dearborn purchased what was left of the property and razed the ruins in 1981.
