Information for this tour was contributed by William T. Parr.

In January 1989, Tony Rand opened the Bridge Creek 8 Theatre in Austin, in the Bridge Creek Retail Center at the corner of US 183 and Interstate 35. Two auditoriums boasted THX sound.

The theatre abruptly shut down in September of 1989 after only 9 months of operations. The equipment was removed at that time and Mr. Rand stated to the Austin American Statesman at the time that this was temporary and he hoped to have the theatre open within a few weeks as a discount house. That plan never materialized as Mr. Rand was arrested and later indicted on 61 counts of bank fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, income tax evasion, and numerous other accounts regarding the loans he took out to build his theatres in Texas and Tennessee. Apparently, the equipment was used as collateral but most of the locations did not have the equipment he put up as collateral in them and there was no accounting as to where he put the money.

Shortly after his theatre was closed and the bank took over the property, Victory Christian Center moved into the facility and has been its occupant for the past 14 years.
