Information for this tour was contributed by Tom DeLay.

The original name of this theatre was the Merced Theatre. The "new" Merced Theatre was opened in 1931 several blocks south on Main Street.

I have no idea what name was applied to this theatre when the Merced name was transferred to the new theatre.

The original 1921 Merced Theatre had a fire a few months prior to the opening of the new Merced Theatre. How convenient! The Wurlitzer organ in the old Merced was to have been enlarged and installed in the new Merced. However, the organ was also destroyed in the fire. From the alley behind the present form of the building, the bricked-in stage loading door is clearly obvious.
