Commonwealth opened the Mall 4 on the same day it closed the Uptown, February 26, 1986. This so preoccupied them that they forgot to run an ad in the Tribune that day. The new cinema opened concurrently with the rest of the mall's Phase Two segment. It took a dozen years to completely kill off the neighboring Biscayne III.
