Information for this tour was contributed by Ken Roe. This was the second multiplex to open in Derby and it opened as the AMC, being built and initially operated by that company. It opened only 2 weeks after the Showcase Cinemas, making the City of Derby the first city in the UK to boast 2 multiplex sites at the time. AMC pulled out of the site only two weeks after opening, stating they wished to rationalise their operational strategy and concentrate their cinema operations back home in the USA. The AMC was taken over by UCI (United Cinemas International).
