In 1970, Rajkumar Roopnarine and his father embarked on the project of opening the first drive-in cinema in Trinidad which was to be dedicated primarily to the showing of Indian movies. Hylite Drive-In Cinema was opened in 1970 at Caroni Savannah Road, Chaguanas.
