Information for this tour was contributed by Steve Sorochan.

I owned and operated an ultra modern 300 seat first run theatre in Two Hills, Alberta, Canada from 1950 to 1979. The theatre known as THE LUX THEATRE had a stage with masking and automatic curtains and was used for live presentations when the beaded screen was rolled back on rails.

The theatre had rich fabric seats which were on gliders which could be pushed back while seated for passing by. We also had 1-1/2 width Lovers Seats on the opposite ends of each row to stagger the seats for better viewing. We even had what was referred to as a sound proof cry room where mothers could sit with a crying baby and breast feed in private if needed, while enjoying the movie and not disturbing anyone.

The hollow red brick building was initially heated with lump coal but later converted to propane. In the fifties and sixties, admission price was adults 50 cents, students 35 cents and children 25 cents and the matinees were reduced by 10 cents. 10% of all ticket sales was paid to the government of Alberta as Provincial Entertainment Tax. We were not allowed to be open on Sundays, but I averaged 150 different films each year at 3 per week.
