Information for this tour was contributed by Ken Roe. The original 1,000 seat Empire Cinema was remodelled in 1936 into an art deco styled cinema by architects Crick & Furse. Although used for many years as a G.J. Coles retail store (now a cheap bargain store), there is still much of the original cinema detail hidden above the false ceiling which stretches across the interior of the building.
