Picture Palaces and Movie Houses
Member Review Rare photos but some inaccuracies by Gary Flinn This 54 page softcover book include some rare photos which show some of the 79 theaters (indoor and drive-in) which have operated in Genesee County, Michigan.
While there was a lot of research done for this publication, there are some factual errors, such as the long gone Flint Drive-In being co-owned with the still operating US 23 Drive In which they were not. Although the owner of the Flint DI (later called the North Flint), Jerry Shinbach made arrangements with US 23 Drive In owner Louis Warrington to book the same movies and run a common ad in the daily newspaper. This arrangement lasted until the North Flint DI was closed around 1964 and torn down for retail development. Registered members may contribute a review by logging in! |
